Poseidon

Lets start off with saying that I love George Hrab’s music. not only does he have a great sense of humor but he forces you to think. Now I have to say that I don’t agree with everything he has to say but if someone is going to have a message to that i don’t agree with it should be delivered in a similar way. You can’t talk to the man with out expanding your vocabulary.

As for Poseidon the idea was to change how I work with backgrounds. I found that I was starting to get limited with only a background .. this painting was the first time that I tried to use foregrounds with my art. And I have to say that I’m very happy with the final product. The more I think about this painting the more I’m glad that George was the model. I just can’t thing of anyone else filling those fins.

George was very happy to be Poseidon he said that he was a swimmer in school and this suited him fine. I think the Bald head was a blast to work with .. the crown on his head was completely composted of makeup.

as for the Props .. everything was made of Cardboard. Old boxes from the previous move to be exact. The trident of all things was a Broomstick and a cardboard head. It does not look like it but its actually flat and duct taped to the broomstick. We had problems with the spear head falling off and I’m sorry to say the Trident head did not survive the ride home.
