So I'm very excited about the gallery showing this weekend. We just got the prints from Kodak . There is nothing like seeing something labored over physically manifest. Imp had sent me a message while I was at work letting me know that she got the prints.

New Years PDF Print E-mail

So everyone makes a resolution ... What is a body painter to try to make different this year. I have a few standard resolutions like going to the gym, Working out .. removing an annoying habit or two. I feel the most interesting one is that I need to paint more. This is always a good one ... Current problem is that the studio needs about 3 hours to heat up before I would ask a model to disrobe out there. And Space heaters and other means of making the models comfortable aside. It does prevent me from going out to paint on a whim

So this Year I will paint more.. Setting a day or so a week to get into the studio and work on my projects as well as doing other body paintings when I have a chance. I’m lucky because I have some models that are coming back to visit in town soon and I will have a deadline (I work better with deadlines)

Bodypainting Xmas Ecards

So its Late Christmas Eve and I can't sleep ..I made the mistake of taking an hour nap today followed up with some tea that discovered had caffeine, My Daughter is asleep on the sofa (We celebrated Yule (on the 22nd) this year so she is not expecting Santa but wanted to sleep in the same room as the Xmas tree. My Studio has not been heated today so it's Colder then I would find comfortable (and the paints are temperature sensitive and would be a little sluggish coming off the brush) So I have nothing else to do but work on the website and think of more things to paint.

Psyche painting day #2

So the day started by me walking into the studio to put something away. What I did not say last night was that I was not happy with the blue background .. It was one of those things that seemed to be a good idea at the time but the more I worked with it the less that I liked it. The Painting seems to be amaturish.   And there is one thing that I'm always trying to portray with my Body painting. However. giving it 20 hours to sit there with me not stairing at it! Looked kind of good from 10 feet away (About the distance the photographer is going to be standing.) So I think I will keep it .. Sometimes you just need to walk away from a project to get a better perspective .

With that done it was time to work on the buttlerfly . So how hard could it be to find a butterfly on the internet. Honestly the problem is not finding a butterfly but finding the right butterfly .. Monarchs and  are over done . Made up butterflyies don't seme right .. so about 30 min of looking at the verious species of butterflies I found one that as perfect . I wish I knew the speices but the site that had the picture labled it under the obvious "Butterfly" but at least the image was a good size.

The butterly has Black wings and blue markings .. The blue I my mind will have to match the color of the models Toga... or at least the one that get's body painted on her.

Earlier today my Neice was talking about how the "Guest artist" At her school was a total idiot . The guest artist way suposed to show the class how to paint someones face to look like a cat using an Aribrush. Sounds fun right ? Well I guess this instuctor was tying to use Grease baiced makeup through the airbrush. I'm sure it can be done ..but that is a horrable thing to do to an airbrush and even worse to use on a model . Grease baised makeup requires tons of soap and water to remove .. not kind when it comes to mistakes and I'm affraid to hear what would happen if any of it got in your eyes . so according to my Neice the final product was a total flop.

Well back in my studio I figured this would be a good time to show my Apprentice how to use an Airbrush. I have not fired one up in a while and I had plans for the next painting. We set it up and I showed her the basics of how to use it .. then handed it to her. I have always felt that people understand more if they discover for them selves how to use something. Theory is great but it does not replace actual time holding a brush.

So here I was painting the black wings across the blue textured background while my apprentice was happily turning her hand green. All and all this has been a good day.
